AXIS SWAN · Surgeon Associate Network
Connect with Surgeons. Share Expertise.
A professional community that brings surgeons together for collaboration, case discussions, specialty communities and continuous learning.
Surgical experience is valuable, but it often stays within separate hospitals and personal networks. AXIS SWAN, the Surgeon Associate Network, helps surgeons find colleagues, join specialty communities, discuss authorized cases with a chosen professional audience and keep learning from one another, beyond institutional boundaries.

How surgeons connect, discuss cases and learn together
Overview
Problems it addresses
- Expertise stays local. Professional knowledge remains within individual hospitals and personal networks.
- Peer input is informal. Surgeons seek colleagues' views through personal messaging, with no case context or professional structure.
- Case sharing needs control. Discussing a case needs privacy review, a clear purpose and a defined audience.
Who it is for
- Practising surgeons
- Surgical specialists and subspecialists
- Surgical faculty and workshop organizers
- Surgical societies and communities

| Capability | Description |
|---|---|
| Professional surgeon profiles | A professional identity with specialty, focus, affiliation and interests. Verification indicators are shown only where verification is supported. |
| Peer connections | Discover and connect with surgeons who share your specialty, interests and communities. |
| Case discussion | Start a structured discussion on an authorized case. Replies stay linked to the case and can point to a moment in the recording. |
| Specialty communities | Join communities organized by specialty and interest, such as minimally invasive surgery or surgical education. |
| Consultation pathways | Seek professional perspectives from peers, subject to the rules of each jurisdiction. |
| Controlled professional sharing | Share a prepared teaching copy from AXIS CaseStudio, never the original, with selected colleagues, a community or only yourself. |
How AXIS SWAN works
- Build your profile: Set up a professional profile with your specialty, focus, affiliation and interests, and see suggested peers.
- Find your community: Search surgeons, specialties and communities, and join the groups that match your practice.
- Prepare a case to share: Choose an authorized case from AXIS CaseStudio and confirm patient identifiers, permission, purpose and audience before posting.
- Discuss with peers: Ask a question about the case. Colleagues reply with their perspectives, references and links to the exact moment in the recording.
- Keep learning: Continue conversations after workshops and connect them with related AXIS Academy learning resources.
- Share responsibly: Choose who can see each discussion: selected colleagues, community members or only you. Clinical decisions remain with the treating team.
Applications
- Peer perspectives: Ask colleagues how they would approach a step in an authorized, de-identified case.
- Specialty communities: Exchange techniques, teaching material and references within a specialty.
- Workshop follow-up: Keep attendees connected after a workshop, with slides, reading lists and next steps.
- Teaching collaboration: Plan and co-present cases with faculty from other institutions.
Integration with the AXIS ecosystem
AXIS SWAN is designed to work with AXIS CaseStudio for case preparation and AXIS Academy for learning. It is separate from AXIS MySurgery, the patient-facing journey.
Frequently asked questions
How is AXIS SWAN different from a messaging app?
Every discussion is connected to a prepared case, has a defined professional audience and keeps replies, references and notes together with the case context.
Who can see a case discussion?
The surgeon who shares the case chooses the audience: selected colleagues, members of a community or only themselves.
How are surgeons verified?
The professional verification process is being finalized and will be published before launch. Verification indicators appear only where they are supported.
Is AXIS SWAN the former workflow product?
No. The former SWAN workflow narrative has been retired. AXIS SWAN now means Surgeon Associate Network, a professional community for surgeons.
